Charles Shehan is an Executive Coach and the founder of NC Professional Coach. Charles is a former Director of Operations who helped scale an air security company from 50 to over 800 employees in just four years—while improving retention, strengthening culture, and building a leadership pipeline from the ground up. With over 30 years of combined experience across military, law enforcement, and executive operations—and a Master’s in Industrial and Organizational (I-O) Psychology—he now works with executives who are dealing with breakdowns in leadership, teamwork, and performance. What makes his approach different is his “whole-person” coaching method—a psychology-powered, operations-tested system that develops leaders who don’t just execute under pressure but also understand how to bring out the best in their people. Because most organizations don’t fail from lack of strategy, they fail from poor leadership, misaligned teams, and disengaged employees. Today, Charles works with professionals and individuals who struggle with professional and personal uncertainty. He helps individuals who feel lost in their career, burned out, or held back by low self-esteem and self-limiting beliefs. Charles helps others discover clarity, rebuild confidence, and create balanced, purposeful lives and careers. Street Creds: Charles is an Associate Certified Coach (ACC) through the International Coaching Federation (ICF) and an active member of the following organizations: The Raleigh Chamber of Commerce, Orange County/Hillsborough Chamber of Commerce, The Raleigh Chapter (ICF), the Society for Industrial and Organizational Psychologists (SIOP), the International Society of Explosives Engineers (ISEE), and an active member of The Resolve Firm’s CEO Roundtable.

Charles Bio I grew up bouncing in and out of the foster care system, navigating a childhood marked by instability, uncertainty, and hardship. By the age of 15, I was living on my own, sleeping in a car, showering at friends’ homes, eating at gas stations, and carrying all I owned in a backpack. Despite this challenging environment, I was determined to build a better future. Against the odds, I graduated from high school. After almost two years of indecision about my career, I enlisted in the military. Over the next ten years, I rapidly advanced through the ranks. At 28, I chose to leave the military to become a more stable partner and father. I quickly transitioned into what felt natural after a decade of military structure—public service as a law enforcement officer. For 14 years, I served the public as a law enforcement professional. This period of my life taught me discipline, resilience, and how to perform under pressure, but it also exposed me to the high personal cost of living in high-stress, high-stakes environments. After leaving law enforcement, I continued my formal education and earned a master’s degree in industrial and organizational psychology. I made a successful transition into the corporate world, positioning myself in business operations. For eight years, I applied what I had learned to optimize operational processes, build better-functioning teams, and increase performance. On paper, I had “made it.” Yet internally, I continued to battle the lingering effects of my early life. I faced moments of self-doubt, a strong drive to prove my worth, and the challenge of finding true balance and fulfillment amid constant demands. The turning point came when I shifted from overseeing operations to coaching leaders. I realized I had spent my entire life mastering how to succeed despite adversity. Now, I wanted to help others do the same, but in a more intentional way. This realization led me to launch my professional coaching practice and earn my ICF ACC credentials. I transformed my hard-earned lessons—from foster care to the front lines, corporate leadership, and personal growth—into a proven framework for transformation. Today, I work with individuals who struggle with professional and personal uncertainty. I assist aspiring leaders in developing the skills needed to gain clarity and succeed. Together, we discover clarity, rebuild confidence, and create balanced, purposeful lives and careers. What began as a story of survival has become my greatest strength: the ability to guide others from adversity to authentic success and fulfillment.
